This paper explains the pedagogical experience conducted during 2011-2012 by the author at the Ghent University (Belgium), in which he tried to recover the historical memory through oral history teaching. The search and document analysis in Belgian correspondence files, photographs and drawings, and the use of interviews and life stories of «children» exiled in Ghent during the Spanish Civil War, are the sources used for the study of these childhood stories. Younger children in ECEC: focus on the national steering documents in the Nordic countries

The aim of this study was to review the national steering documents on early childhood education and care (ECEC) in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, with the focus on children up to the age of three, posing the question: What do these documents tell us about ECEC for younger children in the Nordic early childhood settings? Methodologically, a qualitative document analysis was applied. The documents provide a picture of young children whose age, individual needs and a number of other factors, such as cultural background, should be taken into account in ECEC. This chapter provides an analysis of the merger of the two Norwegian university colleges of Oslo and Akershus, which led to the establishment of the Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences in 2011. It is designed as a contribution to the understanding of mergers – as we are learning from experience. Risks While Deinstitutionalizing Long-Term Elderly Care: The Case of Latvia

The study deals with the deinstitutionalization of long-term care for elderly people in Latvia. The aim of this study is to identify the risks that elderly people, discharged from long-term care institutions, are likely to face. The research method of this case study is document analysis and a semi-structured interview. The research shows that some mismatch between the declared political aims and the current situation which was clarified through interviews exists. The identified risks have been grouped, analysed, conclusions drawn are provided in the paper.

International audience; This competition investigated the performance of historical document classification. The analysis of historical documents is a difficult challenge commonly solved by trained humanists. We provided three different classification tasks, which can be solved individually or jointly: font group/script type, location, date. The document images are provided by several institutions and are taken from handwritten and printed books as well as from charters.
